Description: The job of Food Service Worker is responsible for the cleanliness of the cafeteria and kitchen areas. Duties include wiping tables and chairs/benches, sweeping/mopping the cafeteria floor, and emptying the trash barrels as needed. He/she washes and sanitizes pans, utensils and equipment used for food preparation, serving, and food consumption. The food Service Worker may assist the Cafeteria Manager in taking inventory of food, supplies and materials. Essential duties and responsibilities also apply when meal area(s) occur in a designated locale outside the regular cafeteria eating area.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required
- Food Handler’s Card
- Valid Fingerprint Clearance Card
- CPR and First Aid Certificate is desired
- Knowledge and use of commercial equipment; such as, dishwasher, ovens, cleaning equipment, etc.
- Knowledge of the English language
- Must be able to walk, bend, reach, kneel, etc. and lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds
- Ability to comprehend and perform functions from oral and written instructions
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills when working/dealing with others
- Must be an energetic, highly ethical and possess good emotional and physical health
- Bilingual is desired
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Wipe tables, chairs/benches during and after meal service times
- Sweep and/or mop cafeteria floor during and after meal service times
- Wash (by hand or use commercial dishwasher) and sanitize utensils, pans, equipment, etc., used for food preparation and serving, and all tableware used by students/adults for food consumption
- Clean and sanitize food preparation work surfaces and food serving areas daily
- Clean food storage areas, refrigerator/freezers, and exhaust hood and filters vents as directed
- If applicable, set up and maintain a serving area(s) in the cafeteria for dispensing napkins, utensils, condiments, etc. for student/adult use
- Assist with monthly and yearly food inventories as needed
- Assist with receiving and stocking food, paper products, and other supplies and materials
- Assist with special events and education activities as requested
- Participate in district sponsored professional development workshops/inservices, attend on-going training classes as directed, and read professional publications for continued professional development
- Maintain strict confidentiality and use appropriate discretion when working with all district personnel records and/or information
- Support and follow the rules, regulations and policies set by the School Board, the assigned school and the District
- Performs all other duties as assigned by the Governing School Board or the Food Services Manager
Length of Employment:
- Nine (9) months
- School calendar will determine the days worked during the school year
